Unable to access the menu bar to reset default setting.

Firefox hung up. I got a message that the script was running then stop script or continue. I was unable to click either. Now all I have is a black screen with a white box at the top. I am unable to see my menu bar or the location bar to reset the default. I am at a loss as to what to do. Thank you.

Chosen solution

Right-click (or Ctrl+click) the Firefox icon on the dock and choose Quit. If Firefox is stuck running, you'll have to force quit it.

Before restarting Firefox, you may want to get rid of all tabs and windows that were previously open:

  1. Open your profile folder in Finder.
  2. Rename the sessionstore.js, sessionstore.bak and sessionstore.bak-(numbers) files to something else, e.g. sessionstore.js-disabled and so forth.
  3. If Firefox doesn't run properly when restarted normally, start it in Safe Mode instead. The Safe Mode prompt also allows you to reset Firefox, if that's what you want.
