I can not upgrade Firefox OS nightly.

Posted

I use Firefox v1.3 nightly-chanel on ZTE Open (eBay). Everything works well. The attempt to update always fails. Loading, unpacking then an error.

adb logcat: ---cut--- I/GeckoUpdater( 9831): Progress [ ================================================== ] I/GeckoUpdater( 9831): Finished applying update I/GonkAutoMounter( 9831): Mounted /system partition as read-only I/Gecko ( 897): *** AUS:SVC readStatusFile - status: failed: 7, path: /data/local/updates/0/update.status E/GeckoConsole( 897): AUS:SVC readStatusFile - status: failed: 7, path: /data/local/updates/0/update.status I/Gecko ( 897): UpdatePrompt: Update error, state: failed, errorCode: 7 I/Gecko ( 897): UpdatePrompt: Setting gecko.updateStatus: Install Pending I/Gecko ( 897): *** AUS:SVC UpdateManager:refreshUpdateStatus - Notifying observers that the update was staged. state: pending, status: failed: 7 E/GeckoConsole( 897): AUS:SVC UpdateManager:refreshUpdateStatus - Notifying observers that the update was staged. state: pending, status: failed: 7 I/nsVolumeMountLock( 897): nsVolumeMountLock released for 'sdcard' I/nsVolume( 897): nsVolume: sdcard state Mounted @ '/mnt/sdcard' gen 1 locked 0 fake 0 media 1 sharing 0 formatting 0 I/AutoMounter( 897): UpdateState: umsAvail:1 umsEnabled:1 mode:0 usbCablePluggedIn:1 tryToShare:0 I/AutoMounter( 897): UpdateState: Volume sdcard is Mounted and inserted @ /mnt/sdcard gen 1 locked 0 sharing n ---cut--- FF system stops working. How to solve the problem? P.S. I use google translate.

Hi Vladmir,

Can you describe the steps you are taking to update the phone? Where did you download the image from, and how did you install the nightly channel on the ZTE device?

This will help us troubleshoot and understand the problem that you are having.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks!!

Ok. Step 1: adb remount echo ‘pref(“app.update.channel”, “nightly”);’ > updates.js echo ‘pref(“app.update.url.override”, “http://update.boot2gecko.org/inari/1.3.0/%CHANNEL%/update.xml?build_id=%BUILD_ID%&version=%VERSION%”);’ >> updates.js adb push updates.js /system/b2g/defaults/pref/updates.js adb reboot rm updates.js

Step 2: Update from v1.1(ZTE formal) to v1.3 (channel nightly). Everything works well !

Step 3: Afterwards: Settings > Device information > Check for updates > Check now a)finds b)downloads c)unpacks d)Updates not installed. Fails. e)FFOS reboot to 'c' or crash.

Hi Vladimir,

Unfortunately this method of updating is not supported. Mozilla cannot distribute the drivers for the device due to legal reasons and so this method will not work to updating your device. This method will fail and have issues.

If you want to update the inari device, you will have to build your own 1.3 or wait until ZTE creates a 1.3 version for the device.
