I'm about to lose a Thunderbird account with Monash University. How can I save all my messages into a new account before they cut me off?

I've tried opening a new account but I keep getting asked to enter details of the account I have with Monash that is still open, and the it opens. I wish to transfer all my emails (some of which are already in archived form) to a private account independent of Monash University so that when they cut me off, I still have all me emails. I may be able to switch everything to gmail but I like the fact that Thunderbird allows sorting an INBOX by sender, subject, and date, but gmail does not. Brlund

Move all your messages to the 'Local Folders' account. You can create the same folder structure underneath 'Local Folders' as you currently have with your university account.

You can of course open a new account with any provider you wish, but that is not related to your existing university account in any way.
