I get notification that there is a new update for Firefox and click it, but the computer is unable to connect to the server and download it (otherwise internet connection works flawlessly). I downloaded a new copy and the problem wasn't solved. I went to your site and adjusted the settings as advised by your article, restarted the computer and it is still impossible to have an automatic update as before. (Before the change of the motherboard on the computer by authorised service everything worked fine).

Does that mean that I will lose all my bookmarked pages?

Most information will be saved as long as you don't remove the Firefox folder. You just download the full install and the new FF will use the same folder.
