Does this only occur when using the Firefox program shortcut on your desktop or start menu? Some software may add startup URLs directly into the shortcut. To check that:

right-click the shortcut > Properties

On the Shortcut tab, check the "Target" line. By default, it should not contain anything extra after this

32-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
64-bit Windows: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

In particular, it should not have any web page addresses. If you find some, clear them out.

By the way, Firefox many years ago removed the "http://" from the address bar to try to declutter it. If you prefer to show that, you can change a hidden preference.

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste urlb and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the browser.urlbar.trimURLs preference to switch its value from true to false.
