Since i upgraded to 25.0 i have noticed that Firefox isn't signing me out. I have Norton Id safe but this should not be the issue. when i shut the computer down and restart it, launch firefox, it opens in the exact session that i was in prior to closing without requiring my password. No, i don't have the remember me setting on. obviously, this is disconcerting. Any suggestions?

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie. So, you will have to remove those cookies to make the website forget you.

If clearing cookies doesn't work then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other present cookie files like cookies.sqlite-journal in the Firefox profile folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Hello iamjayakumars. Thanks for the reply but it doesn't work because i cannot find (on numerous searches) the cookies.sqlite files anywhere on my computer. i have the history set to delete the cookies and cache upon exit so they shouldn't be there. now, even when i close each tab, use the menu to signout and exit, it still logs me back in to the last session. I have norton ID running and it is keeping the passwords active as well. any other suggestions?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Make sure to close all open windows to prevent Firefox from storing the cookies from open tabs as part of the session data in the sessionstore.js file.

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and later versions are hidden folders.

So. I did what was suggested with resetting Firefox and that did take care of the initial problem of it opening with old tabs. when i reinstalled some of the add-ons though firefox has taken to opening with the "welcome to" info tabs for 3 of the apps (the yahoo toolbar is one of them). it doesn't matter if i close the tabs, log out of yahoo and then close the firefox program. they are there when i start back up. now what?

the system already displays hidden files. so, where should i find the sqplite files so that i can search for them manually?
