how do I stop this?
Chosen solution
Is this a web page that opens in Firefox?
Does anything come up if you search on the about:config page for scriptpage?
You can also check for suspicious extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions".

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

go to setting and remove all extensions under extension tab, just delete them. And now open advance options under settings, then remove all wiered things you see....its easy just try...and u ll be good to go... ;)
Thanks for the input. I have win 8 and could not find tools in settings but firefox has a "reset Firefox" option in under the help tab and that cured the problem. it is under troubleshooting information.
No suspicious extensions, I went to help in firefox and in troubleshooting information I reset firefox to it's defaults and cured the problem. Thanks for the input
