Install keeps saying it was inturrupted.

Posted

I have Windows 8 on a fairly new computer. I've installed quite a few things with no problems. Trying to install Firefox so that I can use FireFTP. I was told by a friend that it works great. However at the end of every installation (which takes quite some time) I get an error that says my installation was interrupted. When I click "ok" a browser window opens that prompts me to use mozilla's other installer. At the end it says the install is complete HOWEVER, the icon on my desktop is a blank exe looking file and when I click on it, it wants me to find the exe for it that does not exist. Soooo ya.. not the best first impression for me with firefox.

Any help is appreciated.

Also, I've check for any malware or viruses which I have none. Disabled my firewall, virus protection and malware protection and it still wont install.

Chosen solution

Try deleting the program directory and installing again.

If it is not successful, delete program directories again. Then download and install an older version of Firefox from here.

If installing an older version of Firefox worked, please update Firefox AS SOON AS YOU OPEN THE BROWSER.

Please report back soon.

Is there any Firefox appdata present on your hard drive?
How about any program directories?

Try installing an older version of Firefox from here.

Question owner

No. It was the first install of firefox ever. I did try installing 4 different times. Should I try deleting the directory and attempt installation again?

You can also look at FileZilla as an external FTP program.

Question owner

I was using FileZilla but im getting tired of having to manually change the url for images. With FireFTP I can supposedly set up the custom url for browsing purposes. If I cant get firefox to work then I'll just continue to use FileZilla. But thanks for your advise cor-el.

You did download the full Firefox installer and not the stub that downloads the files from the Mozilla server?

You can find the full version of the latest Firefox 23 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:

Thanks for all your help guys. It took two or three tries but I had to delete the directory in both the program files and the program files (86). I guess its a windows 8 thing?
