Ive just upgraded to v 1.1 of firefoxOS and the features are now enabled so you can choose ssl/tls but I cant get them working with my email imap as my ssl cert has expired

There is no option ( currently on v1.1 to ignore security issues, so ill now proceed to try v 1.2 !
