I had the similar problem previously, I loaded my video into the "video" folder.

I think its because the video is too large, I re-coded the videos to a size of 720x416 in h.264/aac, and the system now sees them.

I tried a "Video" folder, the "Download" folder, the "DCIM" folder and then without a folder. None of that worked. But I see now that the size might be a problem. The video was >800 px across. I'll resize it and try again. Thanks for the advice.

Mp4 should be fine, how big is the video in mb?

It's 875 mb. It's a two hour movie. It's probably too big.

possibly, all my videos are <70Mb each.

Its really confusing and I do hope they give a clear criteria about this. This reminds me of palm days, whose webOS (quite similar to firefox os) always has trouble seeing some videos for variety of reasons, even thought it claims to support "mp4, h.264". lol

not for me. Seriously, i don't think that page helps any end users. This specific question really can use some clarification, if there is limitation(s), spilling them out will only help users.

I have no problem reformatting my videos to meet the criteria, I do have problem when I don't know what criteria I should be targeting.

There are limits based on the hardware decoding capabilities of the devices chipset. Unfortunately I don't know anywhere where this is published. Sometimes this information is not provided publicly by the chipset manufacturer. There are also H.264 profiles that it may not support. Try 'main' profile rather than 'high'. if you are a developer you may be able to use 'adb logcat' to view debug information at the time of loading the video app to see if any error messages appear.

OK, I got the answer. It is definitely a question of size. I rescaled the movie to 480 px across and now it shows up and plays. So, the hardware can't handle large movies and rescale on the fly. It has to be sized for the screen. That's good to know. BTW, it was an MP4 file created by the MPEG Streamclip app on a mac.

good to hear. In case this info is helpful, I am using ZUNE video converter (yes I had two zunes before), which works on many video formats.
