content not visible in Firefox

Hi! I use your awesome browser as my #1 browser. Since the most recent update, however, I can not see content on Facebook that was available (and works on all other browsers).

Here is a link where you can see it working on all other broswers but not FF:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Gables-Inn/91848818163?id=91848818163&sk=app_243138959111822

It in an iFrame FYI.

I have developed over 3000 FB pages and now they only work in the other browsers. I have gotten most of my clients to instal FF so this is an even bigger issue. I am out of ideas. Please let me know if its me or what to do to make it work.

Thank you so much!!!!

Sean

I have the same problem. Why has this become an issue now? Is there any proof that Facebook frames tabs are a security issue?

All the other browsers display my Facebook business pages except FireFox 23 and I assume higher.

I have many clients who have Facebook pages which will disappear if they update.

It seems the only way to move forward is to tell people to not upgrade to the latest version as it kills FB Business pages or to switch over to another browser that will display the pages.

Why on earth would Firefox not have done the obviously intellegent thing and provided a warning and then give the user the option of displaying the frame or not?

You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Ctrl+Shift+K) to see if there is mixed content coming via an insecure http connection. Mixed content is marked with red text. You need to reload the page via F5 or Ctrl+R to see the Net log.

Yes, I am aware it is mixed content. Awareness isn't the issue. It's that there was no warning of this and it isn't intutitive to solve it.

Many people who have FB Business pages, but who aren't techie savvy won't be able to figure this out.

That's why there should be some type of dialog box that opens up giving them an option to choose.

This change has been in the works for several months, but I agree there wasn't a warning that most businesses would notice as they are not web developers.

I think the main problem is that many businesses do not offer a secure site, so they can't just fix the URL and move on. There needs to be some easy way to show alternate content when the iframe does not load, such as, "view on our site at link". I don't know whether FB offers that as part of its tools, or whether it would need to be added to the page below the blank framed area by hand (if that's possible).

Hi Sean, does FB let you use the "no protocol" method for specifying the iframe src address? In other words, omit the http: and start the URL with the //. Then the iframe will use the protocol of the parent frame, avoiding unnecessary use of HTTPS.

I'm a little bewildered by all the different ways FB allows third party content to be inserted. However, I noticed this for Page Tabs:

"You must also specify a Secure Page Tab URL which is the HTTPS address of your content. Users browsing Facebook who have HTTPS enabled will be unable to use your tab if this URL is empty. Note that SSL support for your page tab app has been mandatory since October 1, 2011."

Source: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/a.../pagetabs/

That is different from browser-based mixed content blocking, but it seems FB is nudging in the same direction.

Hi,

Why break what was working? Its supposed to be improvements not setbacks and further incompatibility.

We are in the same position using I-framed data in Facebook. Now we have to tell our customers to drop Firefox?

This going to make for a lot of unhappy campers: Thousands of Public end users - Web integrators - Businesses relying on the Facebook marketing channel - Facebook themselves.

Strongly suggest yo fix your platform or publish a patch we can integrate in our sites (i-framed source pages) or whatever... so Firefox can accept our information.

Thank you

the obvious workaround would be to serve your iframes over a secure connection, as it's apparently already required by facebook according to the documentation jscher2000 has mentioned above...

I have this issue too, but not sure what would be the resolution. I am accessing ADP site internally using Firefox 24.0 and it doesn't display the payslip related information.

Hi tmathew98

Do you see an exclamation mark on the left end of the location bar?

Does anything show up with a red bar at the left and a search for mixed if you open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Ctrl+Shift+K) and refresh the page (Ctrl+F5) to make Firefox show the Net log?

Hi tmathew98, could you check this earlier thread and see whether it is relevant to your portal: How can I get my pay statements on the ADP portal to show up?
