Google search not following links. Produces link hundreds of characters long.
Google links open gobldygook? I use Windows 7 Home Premium with Firefox 23.01 Google searches no problem but if I click a link a new tab opens and ..... nothing!
The address bar is full of rubbish like this: http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=l&ai=CW38yraMQUsGzEuGmiQfF_IDwDMOpp-ADq5Tv9HrbyIWtSggFEAEoBVD3oOSH-v____8BYLsGoAGhhPD8A8gBB6kCHLkSI8I9uj6qBCdP0Bp5WjQPZ2h0wOmQczdO1XVFR1BPrJgYJp05PRLHh2dfQmxN0sLABQWgBiaAB8f7jwPgEqX77aq8td-tUw&sig=AOD64_0-ScuwvpAlcajhpuvr-_tRP94NSA&ctype=5&ved=0CDEQww8&adurl=http://www.lakeland.co.uk/2355/1-litre-Lock-and-Lock-Bacon-Box%3Fsrc%3Dgfeed&rct=j&q=bacon%20box&cad=rja
Any ideas?
PS IE10 seems to work properly.

Wierd, I followed you advice and all's normal again just by starting in safe mode and back. Now if I can just get the text to be legible rather than think I've got cataracts. Oh for those simple Netscape days. Many thanks.

Google processes the links internally and performs a safe browsing check before opening the links.
Make sure that you aren't blocking JavaScript if this doesn't work.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Just a note that "/aclk?" links are paid advertising links, which may appear in Google Shopping or other parts of the page.
