I just purchased a brand new computer with Windows 8 and I start to install all my regular applications including Firefox. However for some reason, most of the time I will launch Firefox and after a few moments it goes into Not Responding and when I get the option to go into Safe Mode or reset, safe mode crashes the same and resetting makes the program refuse to load at all, just sitting there as a background process.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".

If you can't open Firefox, see:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

I experienced the same problem after installing the windows updates produce 15 days from today November 7 2013. Seems to be that Windows is trying to push explorer on you. I had recover my computer to an earlier state (15 days ago) turn off any updates, update malware bytes and Mozilla.

I am not updating windows 8, until I can read people are no longer experiencing these problems
