Actually, you do not need an add-on to default Facebook to HTTPS. There is a setting for it on this page:

https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=security

See attached screen shot.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information, bookmarks and history.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

You said that sometimes Facebook displays correctly, so that provides hope, even if it makes the problem more maddening.

When the page doesn't load fully:

  • Does reloading the page (Ctrl+r or Ctrl+Shift+r) make any difference?
  • Does Firefox show that it is waiting for a server (usually a note will appear at the lower left of the browser giving progress information)?

Did you install Firefox because you are having trouble accessing Facebook in Internet Explorer, or does Facebook work fine in IE?

more options

this ctrl + r or ctrl + shift + r Didnt work also the FB page doesnt load afterwards........on the tab there is no spinning wheel just the FB Icon and below there is nothing either I also waited a lot and nothing happened.

and in fact I installed Fire fox cuz my IE didnt open facebook correctly the same problem in fact also One important question.....what are the chances of installing 2 different fire fox on one OS... I mean I have dual OS systems windows 7 & and XP after I installed win XP....this boot selection didnt show up....which made MY PC boot automatically to XP but that is not the problem.....I had fire fox installed on 7....and after I installed fire fox on XP.....I went to windows 7 drive and opened fire fox from there....to my surprise it opened (BTW FB OPENED Correctly there but not 100% correct)....next I tried opening fire fox...the mouse Icon changes to loading and then nothing happens....nothing opens even in the background...for me I think the problem isnt from outside the browser its in the browser (fire fox) and to be exact since that Fire fox opened FB correctly (but not 100% correct) then the problem is from this version....but u r the experts....so can u help :)

I do not have any experience with dual boot systems. I assume each OS has its own independent set of user folders, so you have two separate Firefox personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folders?

more options

is my problem this complicated :(

Since IE has the identical issue on your XP system, it would make sense to consider external programs that could be affecting both browsers. These include filtering programs (parental control, privacy, firewall), proxy servers (whether for filtering, anonymizing, or security), possible problems with DNS servers, blocking entries in the Windows hosts file, etc.
