I have firefox 22 and when I save a page in mht format with one plugin, when I exit an enter again in firefox, if I open a new tab, I can see the thumbnail of all the pages that I have saved.

I want that firefox store this thumbnails, so I try to disabled the new tab in the config:about, setting the value to about:blank in the parameter browser.newtab.url.

This makes that the thumbnails is hidden, but it is created, because when I save a new web page and I change in the about:config the value to about:newtab (the default value) exit of firefox and enter again, if I open a new tab I can see the web pages that I have saved when the value was set to about:blank.

The other solution that I can see is setting two parameters that there are not exist in the version 22 of firefox.

I can set app.update.lastUpdateTime.browser-cleanup-thumbnails to 0 and browser.pagethumbnails.storage_version to 0, but this parameters are changed to the default values and then the thumbnails are saved.

I would like to know if there is any way to avoid that the thumbnails are created and really not saved, no only hide them, but not saved in any way.
