I'm trying to install Open Freely to permit opening email attachments. The error message advises me to check that::

  • my internet connection is working properly (it is); or
  • my firewall or antivirus software is configured to allow InstallQ (I don't know).

if you look at the page with instructions for downloading and installing , how far do you get? Do you get past Exhibit number 1?

I have McAffee guard and intrusion prevention active and I could install Open Freely without problems.

I didn't answer your question. After Exhibit 3 (the download, just after double clicking) appears , I get the following message: "An instance of InstallQ is already running." But it is not among my programs, which is puzzling.

You mean you do not see it in the Task Manager, in the list of active tasks? A question, you can circumnavigate by booting the system and running the InstallQ again - I would not know, however, what side effects one can expect from stopping it in tracks.
