Chosen solution

Apparently there are several "active" versions -

(1) ESR (whatever that means) (2) 20 (3) 21 (4) 22

Go to: [Box] and click on "Firefox 20"

hello bob, i think i don't fully understand your question. the latest released version is firefox 21 - you should always use the latest version that includes all security fixes & improvements. here are the release notes for firefox 21: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/21.0/releasenotes/

next to the released version of firefox there are also beta and alpha builds available at https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/

hello,

  1. the ESR release is only meant for large companies with their own IT department, not for end-users
  2. firefox 20 is now outdated and got replaced by version 21 two days ago
  3. firefox 21 is the currently released stable version of the browser that is suited for normal users
  4. firefox 22 will be the beta version that is going to be available in a few days
  5. firefox 23 is the current alpha version (which is called aurora) which is primarily focused on developers.

new firefox versions are released every six weeks, then all those version numbers will be increased by 1.

What Phillipp said :) Unless you are managing IT for a large enterprise, you shouldn't be using Firefox ESR. Always run the latest release version of Firefox (21 currently) as it is the most stable and secure.
