Hi guys,

I've been experiencing frequent crashes in Firefox for the past three months. I initially posted about the issue over a month ago here were I go into it in detail: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/952596#answer-414579

I got a really helpful response from iamjayakumars, he identified that my problem was a virus that could be found in a dll file named: erijbbfs.dll. I followed his advice about attempting to remove it and made hidden folders and files visible, but as of yet I can't find this .dll file. Googling the virus also turns up a blank. I know this problem is a wider malware issue I have and isn't solely related to Firefox, but I was hoping someone here could help me out or at least point me in the direction of where I could find further help - as I said in my previous post, I've already formatted my computer and that doesn't seem to have nuked the virus, so now I'm at a bit of a loss.

Cheers, Matt

hello matt, to be honest, i don't know how he made the connection to malware - a file named "erijbbfs.dll" is referenced nowhere in the crash reports. could you post some more recent IDs, maybe we will get a clearer picture then.

Hi Philip, Sorry I meant to, but forgot to post some more up to date crash reports! Here's a few below from earlier today and last night.

There are some kinds of malware that launch under random or changing names, so that could explain not finding it on later restarts. The MSConfig tool or Microsoft's (Sysinternals) Autoruns can help in tracking down unrecognized software that starts up with Windows, especially in the Run key(s) in the Windows Registry.

Two thoughts at this point:

(1) Could you post some of your more recent crash IDs?
I'm too slow... there they are now.

(2) You might also want to disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash:

(A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"

(B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues

Thanks jscher,

I've disable hardware acceleration in both and will report back if it improves stability!

Try to check with issues caused by plugins.

Note that running Firefox in Safe Mode doesn't effect plugins.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
