Please identify your version # as well as the operating system.
Thanks!
I'm kinda lost as to what I could do. I use ff extensively, syncing several PCs with passwords stored etc... it would be a nightmare if all that information is lost. halp :/
Please tell us the version of Firefox (help -> about firefox) and tell us the operating system of the PC.
how do I see the version if I cannot start it? I use automatic patching, and it said I use the "stable branch" if I recall correctly. System is Win7 64 Ultimate.
To clarify, every time I try to start ff, just the "Mozilla Absturz-Manager" (Mozilla error manager) comes up and no ff window at all. If I click "restart firefox" in the error manager, another error manager window pops up.
My apologies. It's just starting off my morning here. I can see version 20.0.1 currently in use. Did Firefox work in Safe mode?
How do I start safe mode exactly? The help files on this site said I can start it pressing shift while clicking - that did not work (same result).
Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
Yes, tried that. No difference sadly. :(
I have a lot of textfiles in %APPDATA%\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\CrashReports\submitted. Will it help to post the IDs?
Yes, more would help although the first one provided may have a link a bug but more crash reports will help us possibly identify the real issue.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
