Norton is working with Mozilla as far as Firefox update releases.

Norton has a new version of their Firefox add-ons available for the new version of Firefox within hours of Mozilla releasing each new version of Firefox. All you need to do after the new version of Firefox is installed is to run a Norton LiveUpdate to get the updated Norton add-ons for Firefox.

You HAVE NOT answered my question about cookie detection. I have all the latest updates from norton but it still does not detect tracking cookies. This has occurred with EVERY new version of Firefox since 17.0 and I am getting tired of going through this every 6 weeks. please reply with an answer to the question.

The Norton toolbar is working however my question was about tracking cookies. which you have NOT addressed.

Yes it is a norton problem - but having a new release every 6 weeks dose not help. Isn't it arrogant of Mozilla to expect norton to patch every 6 weeks to support your sick contest whit google?

Ain't "my" contest! I am a Firefox user like almost all the other support helpers around here - hardly anyone works for Mozilla.

Mozilla's update schedule and frequency for Firefox is what it is.
It is Norton's choice to create add-ons for Firefox, so it is up to them to keep those add-ons updated in a timely fashion. And other than screwing up royal with Firefox 4.0, and lesser so with Firefox 5.0, Norton has done a good job from what I have seen here since Firefox 6.0 came out a year and a half ago.

I run the Live Update and scan everyday. I have the same problem as DougHoward. It has happened before after a Firefox update and unfortunately the Norton patch did not fix this. It is aggravating.

Glad to see some one else has noticed this problem. I have posted about this on the Norton forum but have received no response. Back in November I called Norton support and the rep did a remote access and checked my norton 360 installation and found nothing wrong. The Ultimate cause In my opinion is that firefox has made themselves a moving target for anyone to keep up with the frequency of their new versions. Note this does NOT occur with updates such as 19.0.1, 19.0.2 etc. I wish that some one in Norton and Mozilla would acknowledge this problem.

I also posted in the Norton forum and the temporary solution was to go the the Firefox Options>Privacy and use the Customs Settings for History and delete the cookies from there. I don't want to do anything like this because it messes up Firefox. I pay for Norton I want things to work like they are supposed to. RIGHT!!!!!

A few weeks ago I had to stop using the Norton Tool Bar because it was making my Firefox crash. Now it is OK. What is wrong with these people!!!!!!

Talked to Norton Support rep this afternoon and he told me that when these new versions of Firefox come out they change things that Norton uses to find tracking cookies. The problem is a lack of communication Mozilla and Norton regarding this issue. However Mozilla doesn't help matters any by making Firefox a moving target for Norton or any one else to follow with their 6 week schedule. I believe it is Mozilla's responsibility to ENSURE that they have compatibility one of the major security software on the market before they release new versions - after all they are the ones making the changes. First we must make both Norton and Mozilla acknowledge that this is a problem and solve it. - By the way on your computer have you noticed that after several weeks usually Norton will start detecting the tracking again until the next new of Firefox.

Thanks for the information.  Yes, I have noticed that after a few weeks Norton starts detecting cookies again. This usually happens after a few  Live Updates and another patch. I just hope that there is better communication between Mozilla and Norton in the future. They keep promising but it does not happen.

It is best to disable third-party cookies or at least have them as session cookies if you really need them for some websites.

Current Firefox version have a setting to enable third-party cookies as session cookies.

You can set the Boolean pref network.cookie.thirdparty.sessionOnly to true on the about:config page.

I have third party blocked, However the question is not about that. The problem is the last four versions have broke the cookie detection of Norton - ( THIS I NOT ABOUT THE TOOLBAR OR ANY OTHER ADD-ON IT IS ABOUT BREAKING THE NORTON PROGRAM ITSELF).

Mozilla needs to stay out of Norton's business.....MOZILLA YOU ARE NOT A SECURITY SITE....your a fucking browser and you need to leave other sites alone. MOZILLA need to STOP allowing ALL TRACKING
