At WaPo, my login info is saved. As soon as I click login, I am immediately logged off. When I am in the comment section, I get an error (the page cannot be found). If I try to open their Photos of the Day, I don't see anything - or most videos, either. At IE9 I can login at WaPo, but I cannot view videos or photos, so I don't know what that is all about. (I have Active X installed and working) NOR DO THE PEOPLE AT WaPo, for either issue.
At HuffPo, I cannot save my login, even though the box is checked. Sometimes the login freezes with my password in, but most of the time, it doesn't keep my information, so I cannot ever login at all. I can't even change my password using Firefox, but if I go to IE9, I can login, comment, and change my password. If I cannot login, I cannot comment. I cannot view video. I am not sure if they have a photos section like WaPo, but I can see the online pictures. I have tried tedious troubleshooting with HuffPo and they cannot figure out what is wrong, either.
Today I checked Adobe Flash Player 11.6 (Active X and plugin) I checked Shockwave Director, which showed on my plugins but was not working until I installed it at the Test Shockwave page. I have Windows 7 and use MSE antivirus. What else do you need?
I cannot view any video at Comedy Central using IE or Firefox, so I guess that is an Adobe issue, although Flash works on the other websites I visit regularly, I think. Generally, I'm just trying to read the paper. A very long and difficult battle that I cannot solve. Can you help? Thank you.

Someone recently noted a problem staying logged on the Huffington Post since it became connected with AOL. The workaround for that is to change your connection setting here:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > Network
Click the "Settings" button and choose either "No Proxy" or "Use System Settings" option, and OK the change.
Not sure whether Washington Post could be affected by that same setting.
In reviewing your extensions, I'm puzzled that you have both DoNotTrackMe and SavvyConnect. The first one seems to aggressively block certain communications with websites (potentially affecting functionality) while the second one seems to report on your browsing habits (they better pay well is all I can say). Have you tried disabling both of those to see whether that has any effect?

Two other notes:
(1) Some users have noted problems between AdBlock Plus and YouTube videos if there is a "pre-roll" ad. You could try making an exception for YouTube.
(2) Shockwave for Director probably is not a factor. Director media is rare.
Also check for possible problems caused by DoNotTrackMe.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
I had Use System Proxy Settings already and tried switching to No Proxy and tried logging in. It didn't work. Yes, I have disabled each add-on, one at a time, and they are not causing the interference. As far as Survey Savvy, that was recently added (far after the problems appeared), so I can't attribute a conflict to it. Very few people pay to track, but I am more than willing to dump them at any point. Your point is well received - as is your suggestion. Thank you.
YouTube is not an issue here, just Comedy Central. In my opinion, Adblock Plus is never the culprit, but I disabled it on both the login page and the main body of HuffPo, and it doesn't make any difference. Thank you.
I tried Safe Mode yesterday. Cache has been cleared and cookies have been cleared, continuously, without any effect.
By the way, I removed two other trackers before I replaced them with Do Not Track Me. On the earlier trackers, I whitelisted Huffington Post and WaPo, which didn't make any difference to the performance, whatsoever. The problem started long before I added DNTM. The two websites are why I have done so many changes to addons, plugins, uninstalling, reinstalling, going back to earlier versions and then updating again.
I understand you're saying the problems predated DoNotTrackMe, but all of the extensions may have had similar features of blocking information sites require in order to use them. For example, do you block third party cookies either in Firefox's settings or using an extension? Try not blocking them and see whether that makes any difference.
jscher2000 - thank you for persisting. I was doing two contrary things by allowing cookies and then by also having them in exceptions. I just added Huff Po and WaPo to "Allow" and my login was accepted at HP. I assume it will also work at WP. You are fantastic! It took me this long to try everything (troubleshooting as deeply as possible) in such a way that I could articulate as clearly as I did yesterday. Thank you very, very, very much - you are my hero!
