Everytime I click on the down arrow on the firefox button firefox fills my monitor screen. How do I stop this as it did not happen in the past

Posted

Had to uninstall and reinstall firefox several times as something was trying to take it over. The only way I stopped it in the end was to go back to a restore point on my computer. Anyway, before I had this problem I had firefox leave a border down the right side of my screen. Now it is okay when I start firefox, border in place, but as soon as I click the down arrow on the firefox button for anything firefox covers the whole screen. How can I stop this?

Please update to Firefox 19 (Update Firefox to the latest version), then Reset it Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems

Question owner

As I said I uninstalled and reinstalled several times therefore I have version 19. Also I had version 19 in before as I have used firefox for many years and always keep it up to date

You actually have Firefox version 16.0.2, as shown from your User Agent:

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0

Please double check that you have Firefox 19 by clicking the orange Firefox button in the upper left hand corner of your screen, going to the arrow next to help, then to About Firefox.

You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Question owner

It was 19 before uninstalling. Then, when I finally got rid of the thing that was trying to take it over I had a quick check it said 19. Just had another look it said 19 then a second or two later said 16 and said updateing. It updated, I then closed it and then reopened. Still the same. It's a bit of a pain, like I said been using for years as I think it is great. Even have it on my phone. Not into it so much on that though don't find it so easy on that but every once in a while I have another go

Question owner

Still jumped accross to full screen in safe mode and it is in default mode as I have not changed it
