reinstalled windows and can no longer access account

Posted

Hi,

I used this a while back due to a dual boot and firefox on android, stopped using it on phone and dropped the other os

Recently reinstalled Fedora and windows 7 but there isn't a way to just log back in with the account, It asks for a pair code...

is there a way I can re add this to all my devices without it being on anything at the moment? I understand I've lost all my bookmarks but that's ok...

cheers peeps!

Chosen solution

Both devices need to be online at the same time if you want to pair a device with the (3x4) 12-character code.

Sync needs to be set up and working on at least one (desktop) computer, so you can enter the 12-character code, provided by the device (computer) that you want to pair, in three fields to pair a device on the computer that has a working Sync setup.

Enter all details like the account name (email address) and password and the 26-character Sync key manually to connect to an existing sync account instead of using the 12-character code to pair a device if pairing isn't possible.

  1. open "Tools > Options > Sync" or "Firefox > Set Up Sync"
  2. click "Set Up Firefox Sync" to go to "Firefox Sync Setup"
  3. click "I Have an Account" : Connect
  4. click "I don't have the device with me" at the bottom to enter the account settings (email, password, sync key)
  5. click the "Sync Options" button at the bottom to select what to sync

I do not understand what your issue is. You provided information about pairing and sync. What is happening? Could you elaborate please?

Sorry.... I will try to summarize the problem...

I set up a sync account with Firefox a while ago... I have had to do a clean install of windows, but I am dual booting between windows and linux, so I would like to start using it again When I try to log back into the sync account I get a 9 character code which I assume is a pairing code but no where to log in... If I try to create an account it says the email address i want to use is taken...

How do I log into this account? It currently isn't attached to anything at the moment...
