No Hotmail Page Appears
I am on Firefox 12 with Linux and have made no changes and hotmail 'sign in' page is now blank having always worked. I tried downloading Firefox 19, but when trying to extract, "an error occurred while accessing the archive" came up. I don't know if it's related but I have no graphics e.g. the 'Google' logo and many sites including even mozilla comes up with the "this connection is untrusted" page. I have tried shift key and reload and clearing the cooking in the cache. What should I try next? I am a novice Linux user so need clear instruction but would really appreciate some help! Thanks

Try to use Firerfox 19 which is the latest version (or may be only 18 on your distro at the moment)
This may help
Note you may if you wish install the Mozilla Firefox version fx19 for a single user account in addition to your Distro's linux version for all accounts.
Regarding your Distro version and how to install the latest version it is probably best to discuss on a Linux forum. What is your linux distribution, Name ? & Version ?
As I mentioned in my first post, when I try to extract firefox 19 having downloaded it, I get "an error occurred whilst accessing the archive". I tried several times and I get this every time.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Creating a profile":
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
- Where are you getting Firefox 19 from ?
- What about Firefox 12 where is that from ?
- What is your Linux Operating System called ?
- and what is the version ?
I am getting Firefox 19 from the Mozilla download page This is also where I got Firefox 12 from My Linux operating system is: Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.21.E - is this what you mean?
I also note that there is a problem wtih the graphics card but when I try and update from both Intel and Java, I get a message saying that Firefox has crashed.
I can now get the 'sign in' page of Hotmail, but all pages are without any graphics and some aren't even rich text format. Thanks for your help and patience!
I don't feel confident do this as I seem to have more basic problems in trying to master downloading software on Linux. I am a windows-girl born and bred and this is 'challenging'!
The Hotmail sign in page is created via JavaScript, so if that page stays blank then you may be blocking JavaScript.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
- Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
- Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
- Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Edit > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Modified
Thank you that has restored the graphics, although it still says on the troubleshooting information that the 'GLX version older than the required 1.3' and WebGL Renderer: 'Blocked for your graphics card because of unresolved driver issues' and GPU Accelerated Windows: 'Blocked for your graphics driver version'. When I got to Intel or Java to try and download an update I get a message that Mozilla Firefox has crashed.
