I was trying to download an instruction manual for a Toshiba DVD recorder, and instead of the manual, i ended up with delta search. This sucks big time, and I want to cancel/and/or delete it. How do I go about getting this crap (delta search) off of my computer?

Chosen solution

Seriously guys, pay more attention when installing freeware and creepy video codes. Delta search, incredibar, yontoo, conduit, you name it. All these can be avoided if you simply care to read each and every installation screen and 'offer'. Anyway, to remove Delta Search from your computer follow the removal guide located here.

First of all, go to Control panel and uninstall the following apps:

  • Delta
  • Delta Toolbar
  • BrowserProtect
  • Yontoo

Then, reset the following preferences:

  • browser.newtab.url
  • browser.startup.homepage
  • extensions.BabylonToolbar_i.newTabUrl

Or if you have nothing to lose, simply click HELP > Troubleshooting information and reset Firefox back to the default. Also, take a look here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

hello, please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there.

afterwards install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customizations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

I have this thing as well and after digging around I found some info about this http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/Delta-toolbar-20612-program.aspx

The site says it is related to Delta Airlines but not sure that is the case.

Looks like it is indeed adware of some sort, not exactly sure how it ended up on my computer but must have been included with something I downloaded. I tried to find out more from the company but its pretty much a dead end, just a bit of marketing info. If anyone knows how it gets installed that would be very helpful so I can watch out for stuff like this in the future.

Any additional info would be great!

Thanks, Joseph
