Can Firefox deliberately add a website as blocked in "Options > Content > load images automatically"(I thought that Firefox cannot do it itself) ?

Posted

Hi,

One of my colleagues (Windows7 x64, latest Firefox) reported a strange behavior in Firefox for which it is difficult to get a repro on another setup.

Can Firefox deliberately add a website as blocked in "Options > Content > load images automatically" (I thought that Firefox cannot do it itself)?

Can you confirm that ? If not, does anyone has a clue on what could trigger such behavior ?

Many thanks for your kind support.

Kindest regards, K

I don't know of a way to block automatically in current Firefox versions unless the default is to block all images and have an allow exception or if the have content blocking extensions like Adblock Plus.

Hi, maybe an antivirus program is blocking the images. Also, you should make sure that you are allowing all images to load and that images from specific sites are not being blocked. Go to Tools->Options->Content, open Exceptions and remove any sites being blocked. Also, images from a site can be blocked from a context menu (right-clicking, in Windows). A site could be blocked accidentally by right-clicking on an image. Another possible fault could be problematic third party extensions. Hope i have helped!

Firefox 3 versions had this in the right-click context menu (Block Images From), but current Firefox versions only have this in the "Tools > Page Info" tabs that deal with images and permissions (Content, Media, and Permissions).

Thank you both !

So you confirm that a site can only be blocked for loading images, by setting it manually in the option's content Tab or the image Info dialog (right-click on image) ?

I mean, there is no way Firefox can decide by itself to block a site from downloading images. Correct ?

My colleague stated the domain get added itself in the list, so that's why I am asking.

Accidental move or problematic third party extension ? Sorry for asking again.

Thank you for your kind support !
