My latest Firefox no longer works and I can't fix it. I'm using Windows 8. I made the mistake of downloading DuckDuckGo. It immediately took over as my default browser and it wouldn't allow me to change back. I realized I had something I didn't need so I tried to delete it. It took a full morning to accomplish that chore. I went back to Firefox and found that my tabs were there, but they were opaque and wouldn't work. You could actually read what was underneath them. No way to search for anything wthout going back to the Firefox start page. I uninstalled Firefox and put it back on and it was still the same with non operating opaque tabs. Do you troops have any good ideas as to how I can get my Firefox operating again?

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
