Firefox crashes when I double click the icon. I have gone through all the fixes on the website with no improvement. I am able to get it to open only when I right click and use the run as administrator option. I have reinstalled firefox, changed profiles, and tried safe mode option. All had the same effect firefox crashed on startup. I have run four different malware removal programs and restarted the computer, still crashes. I also ran my antivirus program last night and still crashes. I turned off the firewall and still crashes. I tried also the reset option in troubleshooting options but still crashes. Firefox worked fine till yesterday then java updated and the crashes started occurring, I have also done a system restore to before java updated but still crashes.

here is the crash report information.

Hello plphpet,

Welcome and thank you for posting on Mozilla Support. We value and appreciate you as a user.

1. Click the Windows Start button, and select Run... on Windows XP or press Windows Key + R on Windows Vista/7. Type in "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted" including the quotation marks and click OK.

2. In the resulting folder will be a text file for each crash report you have submitted. Using the View menu, arrange them by date to find out which is the newest file; and double-click on it to open it.

3. Report back to us with the latest crash ids.

Thank you Tylerdowner. I had already run the suggested programs under the troubleshoot firefox issues caused by malware over the weekend just messing around on my own here to figure it out, and none of them found it.

Now that I have the file name I did a search on my computer and found it in the users/username/appdata/local/microsoft folder. I restarted into safe mode and deleted the file, then ran regedit to remove the registry files for it, and ran msconfig to be sure it was not referenced there. Then restarted the computer and Firefox works now.

Thanks for all your help.
