I think I messed something up in Firefox.I was in the process of backing up some files like bookmarks.I had done the following-clicked on Firefox, troubleshooting and show folder.I found and back up bookmarks but had trouble when it came to trying to do places etc. and now some of the files are showing Acrobat to open them. What is the default for these files and how do I switch back? Thanks

If you want to change the application that opens .pdf files, change that in Options > Applications and look for Portable Document Format.
Thanks for the reply but I don't think I expressed exactly what I needed to know.I'm not sure how I changed the file associations which basically involves Windows system files. I know that when you click on one of these files you get a window saying that windows needs to know what program was used to create the file. If the files in question are in Firefox, would I be wrong if I assigned Firefox to these files as the program that created them? I hope this is a little clearer. Bob
Are you opening the files with a double click from within Windows Explorer?
There is no need to do this.
If you have saved a Firefox extension's XPI file then either drag the file in a Firefox window or use Firefox > New Tab > Open File to install the extension.
Most other files that aren't text files, but binary files (and this includes SQLite database files) are unsuited to be opened.
