Why are my bluetooth keyboard shortcuts not working in Firefox?

I would like to be able to use my customized bluetooth keyboard shortcuts created using the External Keyboard Helper app while using Firefox. For example, I have set my keyboard to change languages using the "alt" key. This function is working in every app that I know of except for Firefox. In fact, it even works when I click the Firefox URL bar and enter the "top sites/bookmark/history" page. For some reason though, the language goes back to English even after changing the language in the URL page, and I am left with no easy way to change languages using my bluetooth keyboard when using Firefox. This is a major annoyance as it's the only thing preventing me from using this otherwise-great app as my main browser. Although I don't know if this is related, I also cannot use other shortcuts that I can use in other browsers such as Chrome, Stock ICS and Overskreen (control+w for close, control+N for new page, etc).
