Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page"). I tried the solution above, i.e. start in safe mode, and I keep getting the same error message even when in safe mode. This all started after I upgraded to version 20. It was very helpful advice. I went through the first steps. The best start was going into "Safe Mode." (I wasn't even aware of that feature.) I then had to go through the "Troubleshoot extensions . . ." link that you provided. The first step did not work -- and, I'm afraid, time was running out because of my office schedule. I quickly -- probably too quickly -- went to the "reset" option.

If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
