How can I recover passwords in firefox 13.0.1, after an OS change [reinstalled windows 7] and the old programs are in a windows.old folder. Thanks in advance...

1.PerfLogs, 2.Program Files, 3.ProgramData, 4.Users, 5.Windows and 6.autoexec

These were the six folders listed inside windows.old folder. I tried to paste a snapshot of that folder, but I don't know how..

You want to copy your firefox profile across. If you have sync set up and running on another PC, that's the easiest way to copy things across to a new install ( see the article on adding a device to sync.

If not, you can copy the folder that contains your profile across. Have a look at the support article on profiles ; there's a section on how to copy without opening firefox, which should point you to the right directory to copy across.

Hope that helps,

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Windows: %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
