Firefox hangs & doesn't respond when I try to login to ebay
Practically everytime I try to log into ebay the page hangs. If it goes straight to the hour-glass - then 'programme not responding ' is displaying. I have to switch off - then the 'ending programme box' ( ? or whatever it's called) comes up. Sometimes the hand is displayed & then it will either go to the arrow & then after some time may finally allow logging-in or it will go to the hour-glass & the above happens. Each time this happens I have to restart the computer. Sometimes this has happened on paypal too - but no other site that I use.
I think the issue may be with adobe reader as I tried updating the adobe plug ins - Flash & reader but this seemed to make it worse, so I went back to the versions I already had. When I removed Flash I was able to log-in but it took ages as previously described - but I needed to reinstall it for programmes I use.
Not sure what's caused it as this has been getting progressively worse over the past couple of weeks & I'm not sure what's happened to trigger it. Other than I've started selling things on ebay? anyhow I would really be grateful of your help, Thanks Tania.

Did you check for problems caused by plugins?
You appear to be having an old Shockwave Flash 10.3 r183 plugin that may not work properly with eBay.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Hi Folks, thanks for those answers: iamjayakumars - I'm not sure at what point to reload the webpage? I'm probably being a bit slow, I'm no computer expert! But I cann't do that after it hangs. If I know that it's going to hang when I log in, at what point should I try what you suggest? cor-el - I found the Shockwave Flash 10.3 r183 thank-you! I've disabled it & it seems to help. Still slow, as I described above, but I'm able to log-in. But I've been here before with other plug-ins. So I'll restart & log-in & out a few times before I confirm problem solved! Thanks again to you both.
Try to update that Flash player plugin and also make sure that Java is up to date.
Thanks again, I have reloaded the plug-ins & updated them ( Java was already updated & didn't seem to cause a problem) and everything has been running fine now for a few days. I've also managed to solve a few other small problems from these help pages - so thanks to you all here. I just seem to have one little bug now - ebay have started a sign in for retrieving uncompleted saved sales listings & this seems to be doing the same as the main sign in before - I expect ebay will sort this out soon or I might be back!
I have the exact same problem loading ebay/paypal sign-in pages only... Thought I'd found the solutuion here when I checked and my flash and jave plugins were out of date, however after updating and rebooting the problem persists. Currently using IE8 to view ebay/paypal.
Thanks

Uninstall/Reinstall worked for me :o)
Thanks deanelec, will give that a try.
Previous solution worked for a while. but need to enable flash to upload pictures, but now asks me to sign in each time I do this which I cann't do 'cos flash is enabled. Catch 22!
Will try what you advice & come back - thanks
So I've uninstalled & reinstalled Trustee Rapport - AMAZING! So much faster & don't have to disable flash. Will be back in a few days tho' .......just in case this changes over time
Thanks again
Thanks deanelec, uninstalling and reinstalling Trusteer Rapport worked. I also updated Java.
I have found the same problem only when trying to access Ebay. I have tried to close FireFox using the Task Manager which will terminate FireFox but FireFox cannot be restarted. You need to reboot the machine. The problem seems to be related to the request from FireFox to save the password. When the box asking if you want to save the password opens in the upper left corner and I am able to see it, I click in the X to close the box and Ebay opens OK. Sometimes instead of a box with the request I get a black box about the size of the request box and no way to close it. Firefox will then hang be be unresponsive.
