Can a Firefox browser connect through a USB/com port?
Hello: I'm a product designer and work on medical equipment. I write a lot of embedded code but don't know much about PC software systems and the like. One of the products I'm working on will require setup/customization by the end customer when received. One of the thoughts is to connect a PC to it through a USB connection, with the setup program resident in the product. A browser, like Firefox, would receive HTML code from the product, display the options, and return the user's selections, serving like a "dumb terminal".
The USB connection would likely be a "virtual com port" type, so that it would appear as "ComX" in the PC. Can Firefox be used to connect to a host via a com port, rather than to network with an IP address? What would the user put in the URL window for such a connection?
