I have to access my email from godaddy through secureserver.net. Prior Firefox 16.2 did not exhibit this bug. So I have switched back to 16.2 temporarily, Both versions Firefox 17 and 17.1 have this bug. It does not allow you to type in a subject when composing mail at secureserver.net. One has to log out of secureserver and hope that a draft is saved. If you're lucky and there is a draft you can then type in a subject in the saved draft and send it. Please advise. Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

I see it has only been a few days since this post about this issue. Any further information on how to fix it? I tried the clearing of the cookies and cache, unfortunately the problem persists.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

@cor-el... ok, once I start in safe mode, and check in "extensions" & "appearance", how will I know if there is a problem? Will there be some type of indicator? As of now I did check those areas and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Furthermore, what is strange is everything was working as normal, with the ability to populate the "subject" line...and then it stopped. No changes were made to my knowledge to cause this.

I also cleaned the cache and started in Safe Mode. Even in Safe Mode the problem persists. I use my email for business and sending out emails without a subject line isn't working for me.

How do you switch back to Firefox 16.2? Did you do a rollback/restore to a previous date or did you uninstall Firefox and then install 16.2? THANKS!
