The server may be busy and not responding.

Did you try to reload the page via F5 or Ctrl+F5?

Do you see any data getting loaded if you open the Web Console (Web Developer > Web Console;Ctrl+Shift+K) and refresh the page?

i see this with the yellow x before : "The character encoding of the plain text document was not declared. The document will render with garbled text in some browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the US-ASCII range. The character encoding of the file needs to be declared in the transfer protocol or file needs to use a byte order mark as an encoding signature." Is my computer error ?

A lot of websites give such an error and its presents shouldn't pose any problems.

Is there are problems with the encoding (character presentation) the check the encoding that Firefox uses.

I just started using Firefox (from IE9) and I get a blank page with no login or username when trying to check my remote webcam. The DVR I'm connecting to is an LT-7908 if thats any help.

You can check if there is any page source loaded.

If that webcam uses an ActiveX control in IE then this doesn't work in Firefox.
ActiveX only works in IE and not in other browsers like Firefox and Google Chrome and for those browsers you need other means like a Java applet to control the device.

I am seeing the same issue. Page loads fine on first visit, then on either refresh or subsequent visit -- even across browser sessions -- it displays a blank page with the encoding error showing in the console. Shift+refresh/ctrl+f5 causes the page to display again.

This page is set to not cache through old school pragma/expires meta elements and an appcache manifest. -- though it seems the issue has something to do with the cache since clearing it resolves the issue.

Char encoding is declared as the first two meta elements and include the http-equiv="encoding" several stackoverflow posts claimed to resolve the issue.

I've verified that the page encoding is ISO-8859-1 in an advanced text editor. Switched everything to UTF-8 included/excluded BOM, and switched everything back to ISO with no change in behavior at any step in the process.

Successful page loads: View > Char encoding shows encoding to be Western (Windows-1252)

Unsuccessful page loads: View > Char encoding shows encoding to be correct Western (ISO-859-1)

Nope I do not have that backwards, Firefox errs out when stating the correct encoding, and displays the page while stating an encoding the file has never used.

Doesn't appear to be a time out issue as success page loads take 17ms while erring out only takes 5-6ms.

I've been searching and tweaking things for weeks trying to resolve this, so any help is appreciated.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Even this way can solve the problem, i won't use it. I don't want to use windows in safe mode >.< p/s:maybe we forget it and use another browser as a solution.

A western (iso-8859-1) or windows encoding (windows-1252) (or UTF-8) shouldn't make much difference on how a page display and definitely not cause a blank page. Only characters in the 0x80 - 0xff range would be affected.

Booting Windows in Safe mode is just to check is there is a problem with security software that is blocking Firefox or otherwise interfering with web content, so you know where to look and fix it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I went ahead and ran the safe-mode test, but it did not make a difference. I saw the exact same behavior.

Try to reset (power off/on) the router.

Try a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before reinstalling a fresh copy of Firefox.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

• Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

• It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.
