Can't install security updates because mobile bar jiggles when starting to check and doesn't move forward
When Firefox notifies me of the need to install security updates, I am unable to install them. When I click "install", the blue bar appears, but stands in place while jiggling and doesn't install, no matter how long I wait. There is no notice that the installation has failed, it just doesn't happen.

Please try to go to www.getfirefox.com and download the newest version of Firefox (16.0.1. Install it over your current version of Firefox.
I downloaded successfully, but there was no prompt after that. I don't know which version of firefox I already have, but whichever one it is, it is in my applications folder and on my dock. If there is no prompt, what should I do, and how do I find out which version I have?
You have to install it, follow the directions at How to download and install Firefox on Mac. then, after that, read Find what version of Firefox you are using
The Firefox version I have is 7.1. I will try again, but yesterday, no matter what I did, there was no prompt enabling me to move it into an applicatios file.
