So I'll keep the box checked, even if it makes starting the program slightly slower.

You don't normally need to check the "Run This Program As An Administrator" box in Firefox -> Properties -> Compatibility tab, to prevent crashes after updating Firefox or Flash. If you need help with this issue, you should ask a new question. You can use this link as a starting point: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new

But I keep forgetting that when you upgrade firefox... or it updates automatically... you need to right click on the firefox start up icon, go into properties, click on the compatibilities tab, and put a check in the "Run This Program As An Administrator" box, then hit apply. Start Firefox, and it should work OK. Problem is...each time you upgrade firefox and/or I think Adobe flash... you need to make sure that box is checked. This is on Firefox 15.0.1 with Adobe Flash 11.4.402.278 all up to date, Windows 7 64bit. If Firefox has Adobe flash add-on, it needs to run in admin mode or it will crash.

The latest AMD video drivers cause FF 14 and 15 (and possibly earlier) to have massive memory leaks and FF will crash within minutes of use if hardware acceleration is enabled. It's possible these things are some how related.

I un-installed Real Player before this issue ever came up, so I would advise, If you still have Real Player, uninstall it, but it most likely will not resolve this issue.

I'm not computer savvy enough to go in and start disabling protected mode, and from what I understand that's not a good idea to begin with. The situation actually improved somewhat for a few weeks prior to the latest updates of Flash Player and FF (which happened within a few days of each other)....there weren't nearly as many crashes. Now with the most recent updates, it's happening continually all over again! Since Flash Player works fine in IE, I'm inclined to think the problem is on FF's end. Surely there must be a solution without having to jump through hoops. Everything was fine until this Summer!

@cor-el: the problem with that solution is that the settings manager requires Flash to work. This bug entirely disables all use of Flash Player.

Try to "disable the hardware acceleration" in the Flash Player.
