Firefox will run perfectly fine on a computer that has AVG 2012. I'm assuming what you are meaning is the AVG toolbar in Firefox? That is not your antivirus, and even with that disabled you are still protect (AVG runs on your computer, not your browser). The Anti-virus toolbars are pretty much useless and don't do anything to protect your security that isn't built into Firefox.

I would suggest this: Update to Firefox 14. By sticking with ancient versions like Firefox 10 you are leaving yourself open to security holes. Update Firefox to the latest release. Ignore any warnings about diabling AVG, your virus protection will still run (you can look in the notification area by the clock and see it there)

Then, run an update in AVG. Chances are it will update the toolbar.

Hi I upgraded to 14.1, Avg safe search was disabled. Skype click to call as well but I do not use that function any way, a Video to mp program, again I do not use it.. When I installed it I rebooted my computer, then ran a AVG update, however to Firefox I do not like running with out the SAFE search, I do have other save guards, but unless Firefox is made to run with the AVG safe search I would advise any one that has important documents on that computer to go to another browser. that is what I am going to do once I have all my toolbar contacts saved. I have been using Firefox for many years, it seems that is to come to an end. My other computer with windows 7 is not connected to the internet, only to connect to steam or other branded secure sites for registered programs. AVG SAFE SEARCH has protected me until now, so I am very worried.

'this has not I repeat NOT solved the original problem with AVG2012'

The usefulness of AVG Safe Search is questionable, as all Major Search Engines such as Google and Bing already block malicious and phishing URLs, as does Firefox. However, if you update your AVG, it may activate the Safe Search addon.
