How to make firefox profiles share a cache

I have two shortcuts to two different firefox profiles. One is on my first monitor, and one on my second (which I only really use when a full screen game is on my first monitor). I do this since Firefox saves the location where it was closed and automatically opens in the same location next time it is executed. By doing this, I have a firefox that automatically opens on the monitor I want it to be so I don't have to drag it back and forth. If there's an easier way to accomplish this functionality, let me know as my question will be irrelevant :)

However since I don't think there is an easier way, here is my question. It's stupid to have two caches being saved for each profile. They're clones of eachother, and share the exact same settings (except location!). It's a waste of hard drive space to have two caches. Is there any way to redirect one to the other? Share them from one centralized location? Do anything so I don't have to have the same data saved twice?

Thanks in advance :)

Chosen solution

You can set the location of the cache, but only share the cache if you never intend to open both profiles at the same time by using the -no-remote command line switch.

Would something bad happen if i accidentally open up both profiles at the same time?

It is quite likely that the cache index files will get corrupted because Firefox isn't designed to be used in that way. Also only larger image and media files are stored as separate files. Other files are stored in container files and I don't know what will happen with those files. So don't do it if you intend to have both profiles open at the same time.

I dont plan on it, but now im scared of doing it on accident if its minimized on one screen under another application or something!

I reread more carefully and tested. As long as I dont use the no-remote command (which I'm not), Firefox will not open the second profile if I already have an instance of firefox open. Regardless of what shortcut I chose, it will open the same profile as what is already running. Unless of course nothing is running, then it will open the profile I specify.

Doesn't look like it'll be a problem for me. Solved! Thank you.
