Normally I would wait until things are corrected but not having any luck finding a solution and a number of sites are grumbling at me for still using the older version.

Chosen solution

Well I, for one, got tired of waiting for an answer and did the only thing I knew to do. First I did a thorough scan of all drives with the latest virus/pest definitions and knew things were clean that way before uninstalling and re-doing Firefox from scratch. Second I backed up my bookmarks to .html and did a complete uninstall of the old Firefox and did not use the option offered to save my old settings, etc. (Figured I would rather redo them from scratch than chance saving part of my current problem.) After I had uninstalled, erased the Firefox subdirectory in C:/Program Files and done a cold boot I went ahead and installed a new version of Firefox, did the settings to my liking and imported my bookmarks. All looks good after a number of cold and warm boots so guess I cured the problem. I would suggest you do this too and not advise you do a simple update as that may well leave the redirect problem intact. No proof of that but not worth the possibility to me. Good luck to all who take this route!

Hi Dusty2012,

I'm not sure what issue exactly you are experiencing, but it is always a good idea to update Firefox! There are lots of benefits to running the latest version. You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article Update Firefox to the latest release. There is a lot of good information in there and some troubleshooting steps as well in case something goes wrong.

If that doesn't work, you might want to try installing a fresh copy of Firefox:

I would suggest that you first back up your personal information and bookmarks, just in case. You can find details in the article Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.

Hopefully this helps!
