Can you post a screenshot where the Java version is not showing as being updated? It should be in the Firefox > Add-ons menu, then look under Plugins.

Or do you mean this page does not show your Java as up to date?

Yes, I did mean it wasn't showing on the Firefox plugin checker as updated, but was working on Oracle. Also It is not showing in the add-ons. Here is the screen shot of all screens.

It doesn't say that the plugin isn't installed.
It says that the currently installed Java plugin is categorized as Vulnerable.

I did not say it was not installed, I said it was not updated after installing the update, as in the newer version is not showing after install. I have the non-vulnerable version 1.6.0_31.

As long as you know you updated you are fine. It's possible the Firefox developers who maintain that page have not updated it with the right version numbers for the Java plugin on Mac so it incorrectly thinks you are outdated.

I'll see if I can ask one of the guys who work on this area to see if they have updated it or not.

The update Apple Java for OS X 10.7 2012-001 did just come out yesterday, but now that Oracle handles Apples updates, for java, you would think this would not be an issue. Thanks for asking the tech.

One other thing, Shockwave for Director, although it shows it as up to date in Firefox, says its out of date in Safari and Chrome and all three show the same version 11.6.4r634. I think you are right that their plugin database is not updating correctly.

No problem, saneman. Looks like you are very "sane" after all. :D The problem is on Mozilla's side (I confirmed with a developer) and they are having an issue with the plugin check page finding the correct version number. It seems after every Java update they have this problem.

There is a bug filed on the issue and I'm told it's being worked on. So I will check on it from time to time.

But I wish they would just remove Java version checking from that page for Mac users (as it seems the problem is more complicated for Mac users than Windows users) so Mac users would not be confused by this. I'd like them to just provide a link every time to the Oracle page that has the latest Java plugin for Mac regardless of what version number you have. That would be a WAY better solution than this broken situation we have now.

Apple did a second Java update and after erasing the pluginreg.dat file and restarting it all shows as update. Thanks for all your help.
