Try Firefox in safe mode <--- click for instructions ---

  • no need to make changes in the first checklist window you see, just click on continue
  • if crashes continue ensure you are using only the default theme, and disable all plugins whilst in safe mode

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

John99 and Cor-el, Thank you both for your suggestions. my problem is that Firefox won't open at all. When I try to open the program, I get the Firefox crash report box. I've removed the program, and downloaded a new Firefox 11.0 program, and the same thing happens. When I've removed the program I've saved my Favorites, etc, so it isn't a complete remove. Until a few weeks ago, Firefox was working fine.Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for your help.

Instead of just saving your favourites also save the whole profile, including subfolders and files. See

Did you try starting in safemode as I suggested, and did you try a clean profile as suggested by co-rel ?

The next step is to try a clean install, that entails deleting the program folder and is explained in :

Try that in safemode, with only the default theme, and with plugins disabled. Please post back with how you get on. If you still have crashes include the latest crash ID in your post.

If that fails, consider a complete removal of Firefox, AFTER you have saved your bookmarks and profile.
