adblock plus will not load under firefox 11 and Vista limited user

more options

I am running Windows Vista, fully patched. I can load Adblock Plus as an administrator but not as a limited user. The menu bar also does not work as a limited user, but the Firefox button does.

Chosen solution

I used the Mozilla web site download button, so I have no idea which version of Firefox 11 I got. The issue has been resolved. It seems that upgrading from 3.6 to 11 was a little more than Firefox could handle smoothly. I use Norton 360, and have been waiting until the toolbar became compatible with Firefox (which Symantec says it did at version 8) before upgrading.

I upgraded while logged in as an administrator, then set Firefox up the way I wanted including the add-on Adblock Plus. I then logged off and logged in as a limited user. At this point, the menu bar didn't work, bookmarking didn't work, and trying to install Adblock Plus didn't complete. After closing Firefox and reopening it a couple of times (along with using IE9 to see if that browser had problems too - it didn't) Adblock finished loading and the menu bar started to work. It seems something in the install process just didn't finish at first. Everything seems fine right now.

Hi,

I'm sorry your having this problem. Are you trying to run the development build of Adblock Plus for Firefox 11? I ask this because the system requirements on the adblockplus.org web site recommend a development build for Firefox 11. If you can give some more details about what you want to be able to do, I can try to find the answer for how to do it.

Thanks, Michelle
