In the Bookmarks Manager you can change the properties of a bookmark in the Details pane at the bottom right.
That Info pane has a More/Less button to show or hide extra properties.

  • You can change the Properties (including the name) of a Bookmark or Tag in the Details (Properties) pane at the bottom of the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks: Shift+Ctrl+B) after selecting an item. You can rename a tag by selecting the Tags folder in the left panel and change the name in the Info pane at the bottom right.
  • You can make changes to a Bookmark in the Bookmarks menu drop down list or in the side bar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks, Ctrl+B) via the Properties entry in the right-click context menu.
  • You can open a bookmark in a tab and click the yellow (blue on Mac) star in the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and see in which folder a bookmark is located.

Thank you. I hate to ask a dumb question but where is the bookmark manager? How do you get to that?

This is different, I assume, from the "bookmarks window" you get when you click on "show all bookmarks" from the bookmarks tab? That's where I've been organizing my bookmarks.

You can open the Bookmarks Manager (Library) via this menu item in the Firefox menu or via the menu bar (F10).

  • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

Thank you again. When I go to the bookmarks library, or as you call it the bookmarks manager, I don't see anything that says details. I looked on the bottom right. The only things on the bottom of the pane is a line for the Name: and the Description: ? At the top there's just "organize," "Views," and "import and backup."

Am I in the right place?

Yes, that pane that shows the name and the location and other data from the currently selected bookmark or folder is the Details pane.
You can click the name field or other fields and change its content.
Changes are saved automatically of you remove the focus from a field.

Thank you so much!! I got it! And it all looks so simple and obvious now but I sure couldn't figure it out alone. Makes a world of difference for me. Thanks!!
