I have Windows 7 Home Premium and, yes recently accessed a file from the koyote web site. Reading previous posts I have tried all suggestions to remove files, add-on extentions etc with no success in Firefox but IE now works satisfactorily.

Hi! @Fredsmith68

We are glad to see that our former replies are being used, and as Vivek.Wilfred mentioned, our instructions for removing Searchqu 406 and 421 are the same since its basically the same toolbar. If you are still having troubles removing Searchqu from FF please try the following:

Write in the URL address: "about:config" it will warn you to be careful. Go in anyway. Search for: "homepage" in the filter and double click "browser.startup.homepage" From here you can change your homepage default settings to a multitude of sites.

We hope that this has been helpful :)

Hello vivek,

I have been through all the relevant answers and removed the files listed either Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > or by Firefox > Tools > Add-ons etc with no success for Firefox. The problem has been resolved for IE. I'm reluctant to make registry changes unless you can give me chapter and verse on how to do it. I also use McAffee.

Most of the other answers also refer to searchqu/406 not 421.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Fredsmith68,

I think you should go through the suggestions and links by SearchquSupport, which seems to be helpful, according to the feedback. You may even be able to contact them.

406 and 421 is the same. The important part is just searchqu .com. All the parts before is a subdomain of searchqu .com and what comes after is the resource or path inside searchqu .com. You can check both the versions here.

Interesting, I've tried this solution as well. However, it doesn't resolve my issue of; "when I type in my URL/Address box any random thing, it STILL uses this searchqu aka search-results.com function to bring me back my results, instead of my preferred search engine of google.com. How can I get rid of this seachqu once and for all, please. Thank you.

Hi @NuB82, There's no problem to change your default search engine just by taking a few steps: Write in the URL address: "about:config", Search for: keyword.url in the filter and double click " keyword.url" From here you can change your default search engine to your own personal choice , For google, enter:

http://www.google.com/search?&q=

Please let us know if the issue persist , we are here to assist :)

I think I am seeing a pattern with Searchqu and the 406 / 421 / 431 numbers - those numbers probably refer to the account of the person that Searchqu is paying for sending you to their search page. They count the usage of each of those numbers so they can calculate how much to pay each Crapware distributor for those "referrals".

And Searchqu is now making enough money off this crap that they can afford to pay two "support people" to monitor internet postings and try to mitigate the havoc that Searchqu is wreaking upon Firefox users, and try to look benevolent by helping users fix the "damage" that their poor business model has created.

Searchqu is starting to smell a lot like Ask.com passing gas.
