I've recently deleted the "Recently Bookmarked" file from my FireFox 9.0.1 program. How do I restore it?

Restarting FF did not refresh the folder. I reinstalled FF to see if that would correct the problem. No luck. Rebooted. Nothing.

Chosen solution

You have to type about:config in the browser's address bar, press enter and when the page opens press enter again or click I'll be careful, I promise! and in the Filter on the top start typing smartbookmarks. In the results below, double-click the preference browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion and type 0 (zero) and OK.

Hi,

Please try this: Type about:config, hit enter, again enter and in the Filter on the top start typing smartbookmarks. Double-click the preference browser.places.smartBookmarksVersion and type 0 (zero).

When I enter that address and get to that page, the second "enter" produces no result. There is a text box on the page that says "There is currently no text in this page, you can search for this page title in other pages or edit this page" If I try to edit the page it tells me a log-in is required. Using the log-in and password I use to post a question on FireFox Help doesn't work. What now?

Like gold. Right there if you know exactly where to look. Thanks for the directions.

Thank you, it worked. An addition for lay-people: shut down Firefox and start new, then it is there! cocomai
