Try to delete some old emails if you don't need it any more to make space to your box. Delete it also from the recycle bin.

I've deleted everything possible apart from a few small emails and it still says 'not enough space on disk'. i've deleted from the inbox, sent items, junk items, deleted items. I don't know what else to do!

I'm in exactly the same boat--I've deleted all but a few tiny emails from my Trash folder, but it hasn't helped at all. There have been times when I've had over 300 in there, with no problems. I am wondering if it has to do with the latest Thunderbird upgrade. I can't get ANY emails to delete whether they have an attachment or not.

OK, I found what worked. If you right click on the folder ("Trash" in my case), & select "Compact", it probably will clear up the problem. It just did for me. Here is the link I found that explained it all in wording I halfway understood. Thanks Mozilla.
