Why do I get the Mac spinning color wheel for 40 secs or more?

more options

Vers 7.0.1 completely stops my MacBook Pro and shows the dreaded spinning color wheel. I turned on my Activity Monitor and have traced the "time out" to Firefox. Not a plugin, per se, but to Firefox.

I have NEVER had this problem before this upgrade. I turned OFF the syncing, thinking that could be the problem (I had been notified several times - 10? - that the syncing server wasn't working properly, so I thought of it).

Any suggestions how to stop this. TOTALLY annoying. Happens ever few minutes even when I have the browser open but am working in other programs.

It takes more than 100% of my CPU usage.

Help!

The Places Maintenance is NOT compatible with 7.0.1, it told me. :-{(

Thanks, anyway, for responding to my cry for help!

From https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/

Works with Firefox 5.0a2 - 10.0a1

Make sure that you have the latest SQLite version installed.

OK... this time it worked. Did NOT check for SQLite version.

It ran... here's hoping clicking the Execute Button (after checking off "Expire") works!

Thanks again for following up!
