I am a new user. I was told that for maximum safety while surfing the web to enable "no script." Why would I want to do this and how do you do it? Thank You..... David
I was told by a computer security expert to select "no script" for my Mozilla Firefox browser which I just downloaded. How is this beneficial? He told me that there are programs out there {malware?} that can actually take over my computer and send out emails and that I would not even be aware of this? Does this browser help prevent this sort of thing from happening?

For a good definition of malware with introductory information about related topics read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware and for some simple tips http://www.mozilla.org/security/#Tips_for_secure_browsing
Firefox does have some security related features that you may use see for instance
- http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/phishing-protection/
- site identity button <-- clickable links -- (blue text) ---
- Use a Primary Password to protect stored logins and passwords
Other things the user needs to implement separately
- firewalls
- malware can cause severe problems, see is my firefox problem a result of malware
- choosing More Secure Passwords
I understand no script is a popular extension, and its site includes a forum and faqs where you can find out more.
